Sometimes the most spiritually dangerous relationship does not look toxic at first. It may feel exciting, deeply emotional, peaceful, or even like an answer to prayer. You may tell yourself, “This person understands me,” while slowly losing your hunger for God, your convictions, your identity, and your peace. Love culture has taught many people to measure relationships by chemistry, attention, gifts, physical attraction, and emotional attachment, but biblical love is measured by truth, sacrifice, holiness, patience, and the character of Christ. A relationship can feel good and still be taking you away from the One who gave you the capacity to love. One hidden sign is that your relationship is gradually becoming more important to you than your fellowship with God.
